Post Sachin 100th century bash, B-town arch rivals SRK and
Both are in no mood to compromise and have stopped feeling for each other... At a bash given in honour of Sachin Tendulkar for completing his 100th 100 SRK was mysteriously absent at the event which was attended by business tycoons, media magnets and who's who of the entertainment industry.

Salman's comment on Sachin's achievement by quoting Don's most loved line "Sachin Ka record thodna mushkil hi nahin na mumkin hai" brought all the whistles and laughter's to everyone present. Salman even joked by saying that he can say the dialogue as the lines are written by his father who has the rights.

But Shahrukh has not taken it sportingly and dismissed it by saying, "I get numb by the kind of stories I keep hearing about myself." This means SRK has no feelings towards Salman Khan.

And that's not all... Yesterday development also showed the crack between the two mighty Khans getting wider day by day...

Both Salman and Shah Rukh Khan organized two different events in the city yesterday.

Salman's event which was supposed to start at 11.30 in the morning was postponed to 1.30 and clashed with SRK's.

When asked about it, Salman said: "I was shooting for 'Dabangg 2' till 3.30 a.m. We packed up too late and I was sleeping. I can't just get up and come for an event. I went for my workout, had breakfast, took some rest and then I came here."

But the other side of the story is Salman's organizers wanted the same venue which was earlier booked by SRK. The place is comfortable for both as they stay nearby. When Salman came to know about the reason why the venue is not available, the timings got changed and media persons received the information on the change of timings for Salman event.

Needless to say - The media got obviously divided.

B-town events never start on time but yesterday both the mighty Khans made sure that they reach on time... Salman arrived at 1.35 for the scheduled 1:30 event and SRK arrived at 1.55 for his event scheduled at the same time on the same day...

Daylight Saving Time 2012: Bill Lumbergh types warned about cyberloafing

Study finds Daylight Saving Time 2012 could cause 'staggering' amounts of cyberloafing at work.

Daylight Saving Time 2012 won't have much of an effect on America's pajama workers – scratch that, digital commuters – but bosses around America have been warned: DST causes cyberloafing.

As our artificial means of time measurement crashes ahead by an hour Sunday morning in an attempt, via daylight saving time, to mechanically reorder the natural cycles of the mammal known as the white collar worker, outlooks on sleep and, thus, work invariably change. But by how much?

Enough to make Bill Lumbergh (of “Office Space” fame) and his consultant minions choke on their coffee, according to a story in the Journal of Applied Psychology, which presumably outlines the myriad ways day-waging humans achieve applied sanity in the Google age.

The Monitor's Weekly News Quiz for March 3-9, 2012

In fact, researchers used Google data as well as an experiment that tested how sleep-deprived subjects reacted to having to attend a boring lecture to conclude that the 40 minutes of average sleep lost to daylight saving time causes workers to “self-regulate” less efficiently, and in turn increase their hourly “cyberloafing” by an average of 8.4 minutes. Cyberloafing, of course, is looking at political blogs and surfing Amazon instead of putting the new cover sheets on TPS reports.

The upshot? “Global productivity losses from a spike in employee cyberloafing are potentially staggering,” the researchers conclude.

Now, complaints about Daylight Saving Time, originally proposed by a 19th century butterfly collector who wanted more time at the end of the workday to scour fields for insects, go back to its implementation during World War I (peacetime standardization came in 1966).

The most recent real adjustment in the US came in 2007, when the change was moved up to the second Sunday in March from the first Sunday in April to lengthen “summertime” and gauge potential energy savings. Polls showed farmers, perennial DST opponents, grumbled, and sports retailers (who benefit from the extra hour of daylight for play time after work) rejoiced.

Academic researchers, however, tend to have it in for DST.

A team of University of Alabama researchers even concluded that the lost hour of sleep can have negative impacts on health, especially for people who already stay up too late.

“Sleep deprivation, the body's circadian clock and immune responses all can come into play when considering reasons that changing the time by an hour can be detrimental to someone's health,” UA Prof. Martin Young told the British Daily Mail newspaper.

The most recent Journal of Applied Psychology article also sparked researchers to call on sensible politicians to rethink the whole daylight saving time thing in light of the potential productivity losses it causes, especially for managers who “in the current economy, are squeezing more and more work out of fewer employees.”

"In the push for high productivity, managers and organizations may cut into the sleep of employees by requiring longer work hours," the researchers write. "This may promote vicious cycles of lost sleep, resulting in less time spent working, which could result in more frantic pushes for extended work time. Managers may find that by avoiding infringement on employee sleep, they will get more productivity out of their employees."

Mitt Romney wins Guam, Northern Mariana Islands caucuses

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney won the Guam and Northern Mariana Island caucuses Saturday, securing all 18 delegates.

Mr. Romney noted the importance of winning caucuses in a region well outside of U.S. boundaries Saturday, as Guam is just over 1,600 miles north of Australia. Most of the Republican voters in the U.S. territories are U.S. military personnel.

“The people of Guam have always stood bravely for America and the values we hold dear,” said Mr. Romney in a statement. “I am honored to have won the Guam caucuses, an important milestone in my quest to restore America to the principles and practices that made us great.”

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum finished the Northern Mariana Island caucuses in second place with six percent of the votes. He was trailed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who were both tied with three percent in the island caucuses.

The former Massachusetts governor sent his son, Matt Romney, to the islands to give a campaign speech leading up to the caucuses on Saturday.

“I’m obviously thrilled that it’s a unanimous decision,” said Matt Romney, in reaction to his father’s victory.

Mr. Romney himself also visited Saipan, the largest of the 15 different Northern Mariana islands, and attended a private event with the islands’ governor, Benigno Fitial, The New York Post reports.

“Now the voters of the Northern Mariana Islands nearly 8,000 miles from Washington, D.C. have spoken. And what they’ve said today is that they want to bring change to their beautiful islands by bringing change to our nation’s capital,” said Mr. Romney at the event.

The win gives Mr. Romney 9 more delegates to add to his total.

None of Mr. Romney’s rival candidates visited Guam or the Northern Marianas. Their absence shows Mr. Romney’s huge spending advantage in the primary, an aspect of his campaign that has been highly criticized by his rival candidates.

“The Northern Mariana Islands may be far away from the mainland, but one of the great things about our democracy is that every voice has a chance to be heard in selecting a presidential candidate,” said Mr. Romney.

Also on Saturday, Mr. Santorum won the Kansas Republican caucuses, with early returns showing that he carried over 50 percent of the votes in Kansas.

Mr. Romney and Mr. Santorum will now focus on Tuesday, where the regionally popular Mr. Gingrich is hoping to revive his campaign with wins in Alabama and Mississippi.

Nanban

Nanban is the Tamil remake of the Hindi blockbuster ' 3 Idiots'. After the immense success of Enthiran (Robot), Shankar chose to make this as a quickie and the film has completed faster as compared to his earlier grand opus.

The film has Tamil superstar Vijay team up with Shankar for the first time. Vijay reprises the role of Rancho played by Aamir Khan in the original. He will be seen in the role of an engineering student who wants to change the conventional educational system with his out-of-the-box thinking. Jiiva and Srikanth will reprise the roles of Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, as Vijay's close buddies in college.

Ileana D'Cruz will be playing the part that Kareena Kapoor did in the original. She will be seen as Vijay's love interest in the film. The actress is hoping this to be her big comeback vehicle in Kollywood.

Major portions of the film were shot in Ooty and Darjeeling and promise to have the lavish scale of Shankar films. Nanban is planned as a Pongal release.

Salman Khan refuses Arya 2

While most Bollywood A-listers are completely sold on South remakes, Salman Khan does not believe in the herd syndrome.

Probably, Khan had enough of South replicas after his 2011 blockbusters Ready and Bodyguard. When approached for the remake of another South flick Arya 2 by UTV, Khan categorically said 'No.'
An industry-insider told Mumbai Mirror, "UTV wanted Salman. They even held a screening of Arya 2 for him. But, later, Salman declined the offer."

Trade circles were buzzing about Khan's involvement in this UTV project for the last couple of months. However, the insider added, "It's definitely true that Salman won't star in Arya 2. Nobody is aware of his reason for refusing the film."

Arya 2 is a 2009 Telugu romantic sequel to the 2004 superhit Arya, starring Allu Arjun. Arya 2 saw Allu Arjun paired with Kajal Aggarwal of Singham fame. Director Sukumar was the captain of both the ships.

After all, this is not the first time that Khan has said no to a South Indian remake. Earlier, he refused Mahesh Babu's Hindi remake of Dookudu. Apparently, Khan wasn't keen on playing a cop for the sixth time in Dookudu.
